YOU DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE TO FORM THROUGH A PROVIDER

Advocates and licensed corporate service providers can carry out much of the administration of an Isle of Man business. That does not mean every application has to be made by them, or through them.

​

The right route depends on the vehicle. A company under the Companies Act 1931 can be incorporated by the applicants themselves, once the name is approved and the Registry papers are in order. A company under the Companies Act 2006 cannot: only the first registered agent, who must hold a Class 4 licence, may file that application.

Our work sits beside that distinction. We advise clients who want to own and manage their affairs independently, including where a 1931 Act company, a local office and direct control are a better fit than a managed 2006 Act structure. Where a licensed provider is still required, we help you appoint one deliberately rather than by default.

A DIRECT RELATIONSHIP, NOT A MANAGED ONE

Many Isle of Man companies are formed and then administered entirely by a licensed corporate service provider. That model suits some owners. It is a poor fit for others, particularly where the intention is to occupy offices, employ staff and make decisions on the Island. Aston & Williams is instructed on that second path. We advise on the structure, help assemble the local arrangements, and stay available as the company is established and, where relevant, as it is disentangled from an existing provider. Regulated fiduciary appointments remain with firms licensed to hold them.​​
